Kindergarten
I am so excited to get to share music with the kindergarten classes again this year.
In Kindergarten music we will be focusing on exposing students the beginnings of music concepts through active listening, singing, instruments and movement.
Below are the concepts that the students will be studying throughout their kindergarten year.
Concept 1
- There is a singing voice.
- There is a speaking voice.
- There is a whisper voice.
- There is a shouting voice.
- There is a inner head voice.
Concept 2
- Music may have an underlying beat.
- The beat is steady.
Concept 3
- Sounds may be soft.
- Sounds may be loud.
- Sounds may express thoughts, moods and feelings
Concept 4
- The tempo may be fast.
- The tempo may be slow.
Concept 5
- Sounds may move upward.
- Sounds may move downward.
Concept 6
- Sounds may be high.
- Sounds may be low.
- High and low sounds are expressive.
Concept 7
- There are many sounds around us.
- Sounds can be identified and classified.
- Sounds are expressive.
Concept 8
- High and low sounds may form melodic patterns.
- Melodic patterns may be the same or different.
